CLOUD STRATEGY

Our experience has shown that the move to the cloud is as more an evolution than it is a revolution. In reality the cloud model is very much similar to the centralised processing model of 15-20 years ago when the use of mainframe computers and dumb terminals was the norm. Remarkably, we are now moving back in many ways to this model of centralised processing and storage. Kind of ironic isn't it?

The growing power and capacity of the internet has given us an ability to leverage superior fire power in environments that there is no way we could match with our own resources. This in turn has given us the unprecedented ability to launch into a new era of creativity and imagination, and to do things that were not possible a few years ago.

Moving our 'legacy applications' such as mail, security, and storage are just the 'no brainer' first steps into the cloud. The reason for moving these things into the cloud can simply come down to a few main points:

  • It lowers your cost
  • It increases your scalability and agility
  • It reduces your risk
  • It increases collaboration
  • It increases productivity
  • It improves access

ok ok, think you get it - but the list goes on, these are probably the most important first justifications for moving into the cloud.

However, beyond that there are more and more possibilities. You will find yourself looking at what you do and how you do it and ask yourself "can I do this better by utilising cloud power?".

How else can you use the cloud?

  • Improve the work flow of your salesforce (both mobile and stationary)
  • Improve the global performance of your website infrastructure through CDN
  • Reduce processing bottlenecks
  • Make strategic decisions on software upgrades based on their ability to scale into the cloud and provide flexible licensing models
  • 'Outsource' your own processing components and utilise high-performance delivery systems at a fraction of the cost you can do it yourself.

Cloud Assist loves creating the cloud strategy for your organisation based on a consultative assessment of where you are today and the possibilities for the future.
